So you live in beautiful San Luis Obispo and you have some friends coming into town. You don't want to do the same thing s you do every weekend; pre-party at someone's house till you go downtown to the regular bars stops. The best thing to do is hit them all. Yes, you still pre-game at the house so you have a nice basis for the upcoming shots, but you get downtown earlier than usual so as to have time to have a shot at every bar. Now, it is very important for you to do this before you leave. You must decide who has the round at each bar you go to. That way each person is paying relatively the same amount as the next, while simultaneously getting the same intoxication level. In my experience, pick the bars towards the end because more times than not, the group breaks up before the last couple of stops, meaning you get out of spending as much as everyone else did.

You should start Uptown. Firestones is a great place to get started, it's open till eleven p.m., serves the best food in San Luis, and it has a full bar. Go there and have a tri-tip with a Double Barrel Firestone Ale and a Jameson shot to start off. After a hardy meal and a nice buzz, head over to Guissepis for one of SLO's best places to get a martini. When you're done sipping on the dirty, go down Monterey to Chorro Street where you run right into the Mission. The historical San Luis Mission resides right next to this bar but don't worry about confession tonight, walk right in and order a round of drinks. Chuck Liddell strolls in on the regular with his entourage, which is always fun to sit down and hang out with.

After sitting around for a however long you wish, go across the street to Bull's Tavern. This is probably the worst smelling bar in SLO, but somehow always ends up being one of the best stops of the night. If your friends have never been to Bulls, let alone SLO, you HAVE to get them a Bull's sweat shot. It's just the way the world works. A Bull's shot for the birthdays and a Bull's shot for new comers. All I know that's in one is a lot of hard hard alcohol topped off with two or three bar rack juice. Probably the most gnarly shot I have ever taken, it will be your friend's too.

Now, if you and your friends aren't puking and are ready for phase two, leave bulls for the rapid stops. It's getting later and busier so the hopping starts to speed up. Head over to Black Sheep, get a beer. Then go past Down Town Brew, Mother's, Frog ‘n Peach and The Library, for Grappalos. Go downstairs and have a shot, then head to Frog and The Library before ending the night at Mother's and DTB.

These are the bars you want to end up at with everybody else who went downtown that night. By this time, have of your crowd is probably off doing their own thing, not even knowing that they're doing it, so your round should only be a couple bucks. Take care of your friends and dance the night away till two a.m. Then if you're hungry, go next door to Bel Frites for some tasty gourmet fries. Call a friend, cab, or hitch a ride with some randoms, but wake up making sure your friends are alright. If so, get ready to do it again that night.
